The abandoned train station in Rødby Færge

The station closed in the Spring of 2021 but is still accessible.

This post is also available in: Dansk

On the 14th of May 1963 the train station opened as a part of Fugleflugtslinjen (read more on Wikipedia). It closed in the Spring of 2021, as you can read on Wikipedia (article in Danish).

“On 15 December 2019, the traffic with international trains in Rødby Færge ceased completely, when the EuroCity trains were replaced by InterCity trains between Copenhagen and Hamburg via the Great Belt.

This was due to the construction of the fixed Fehmarn Belt link and the associated track works. However, Rødby Ferry continued to be served by regional trains to and from Copenhagen around five times a day until 30 April 2021, when the station closed completely.”

Today the station in Rødby Færge remains as when it closed and a part of the railway terrain was was fenced up a couple a years ago, and goats were introduced to the area.

There is still public access to the old station area as you can see on the photographs below. There are more photos in the album on Flickr.
