In addition to CrossCheck’s use of the tool in France, Check has been used in recent months by organizations across the globe covering elections in Hong Kong, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It’s also worked with groups such as ProPublica, which is using Check for Documenting Hate, its collaborative effort to track hate crimes in the United States. Amnesty International has also used the platform.

As part of the Trusting News project, 28 partner newsrooms asked their audiences to tell them about their views on the credibility of news. They published a questionnaire asking their readers, listeners and viewers about their demographics and political leanings, and how many news organizations they support financially.

?Adobe lukker Flash i 2020
Adobe today announced that Flash, the once-ubiquitous plugin that allowed you to play your first Justin Bieber video on YouTube and Dolphin Olympics 2 on Kongregate, will be phased out by the end of 2020. At that point, Adobe will stop updating and distributing Flash. Until then, Adobe will still partner with the likes of Apple, Mozilla, Microsoft and Google to offer security updates for Flash in their browsers and support new versions of them, but beyond that, Adobe will not offer any new Flash features.

Det her lydt dumt, hvis du spørger mig – heldigvis er der kun tale om en test, skriver The Guardian.

? Mobil
?️ Sådan bruger The Guardian billeder i notifikationer
At the lab, we’ve experimented a lot with the web Notification API. But mobile capabilities are always improving, and since our last experiment Google expanded their Notification API capabilities to add an
image
attribute, letting you use Android’s BigPictureStyle notification on phones. This is particularly interesting for us, since in previous experiments we had to cram data visualizations into theicon
of the notification. Now, with a larger canvas to play with, we wondered what we could achieve.

Why assumed knowledge is the ‘enemy of the push alert’ [Journalism.co.uk]
Push alerts can be excellent at driving readership, but what do news organisations need to consider when using notifications to engage audiences?
Turn Off Your Push Notifications. All of Them [Wired]
Push notifications are ruining my life. Yours too, I bet. Download more than a few apps and the notifications become a non-stop, cacophonous waterfall of nonsense.

? Video er Facebooks helt store satsning
Facebook executives see the company’s upcoming video launch as a top priority, although they warned on Wednesday that video carries lower profit margins than what Facebook typically reports. The crowded TV market also poses challenges.

? Uddrag fra bog om prototyper
This chapter is not a detailed step-by-step guide, nor will it teach you how to use HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or frameworks. It aims to help you understand all the options for creating HTML prototypes and their benefits. You’ll find out what’s needed to get started, and gain some guidance on how to approach creating an HTML prototype. We’ll also include some real-life prototyping case studies from some of the projects we’ve worked on at fffunction.

If you’re wondering how Steven Spielberg will bring the dystopian, VR-heavy world of Ready Player One to life, you can get your first real glimpse in the trailer (technically, a teaser for San Diego Comic Con) above.
The film is based on Ernest Cline’s novel — a book that’s been recommend to me many times as one of the best depictions of virtual reality and gaming in fiction.

? Organisation / Proces
? Designproces: Definér dit scope
Suddenly, the client has a better idea of what you can do to make the project a success, which, yes, will involve some additional work you didn’t talk about earlier. You’ve worked hard, but the client now wants to change direction, making everything you’ve done a waste. What you thought was a straight shot to launch has turned into a meandering journey through the backroads of indecision.

? Drop undskyldningen om, at organisatorisk forandring er svær
The insidious myth that change initiatives usually fail is disturbingly widespread. Most experts, for example, state that 70% of change efforts fail, but a 2011 study in the Journal of Change Management, led by the University of Brighton researcher Mark Hughes found that there is no empirical evidence to support this statistic. In fact there is no credible evidence at all to support the notion that even half of organizational change efforts fail.

? Sådan arbejder IBM med bruger-research
Obviously it’s critical to plan a user research study that matches the research questions, so the right kind of data (qualitative or quantitative) is collected using the correct research method at the right time. This is where having experienced user researchers on the team will make all the difference. They will help ensure that any user research studies undertaken follow best practices and target appropriate user profiles. They will also be adept at analyzing the research data and drawing our key insights.

? Fire fejltagelser der dræber crowdsourcing
I ægte ‘executive summary’-stil:
- They allowed messy, unfocused core interactions.
- They had too much vertical integration and too little orchestration.
- They produce too much social waste.
- They fail to leverage network effects.

✏ UX / Design / Teknik
Websites are often designed with a mobile-first or mobile-focused approach. But sites that are optimized for mobile don’t always translate well to larger screens. Those larger screens may be tablets, laptops, desktops or even 30-inch monitors with 4K resolution. Users of these high-end devices should also be supported by your design.

? Versionering af design – nu kommer det
Times are changing, new tools are available. Finally designers were heard! Now there are a few options available for versioning our design masterpieces. Yeah! Dude, that’s real.

? Kom i gang med ‘Privacy by Design’
In these politically uncertain times, developers can help to defend their users’ personal privacy by adopting the Privacy by Design (PbD) framework. These common-sense steps will become a requirement under the EU’s imminent data protection overhaul, but the benefits of the framework go far beyond legal compliance.

To take you back to 2002 — ‘The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers’ was in cinemas, Nelly was topping the charts with ‘Hot in Herre’ (I recall liking it at the time, shudder), Lennox Lewis successfully defended his heavyweight title against Mike Tyson, Brazil beat Germany 2–0 to lift the World Cup and a bunch of iconic games were released.

Cloud Functions is Google’s entry into the serverless computing craze. The promise of serverless architecture is that it dramatically reduces the cost and complexity of developing, scaling, and operating a range of applications. While there are still a host of issues to resolve, the potential benefits are enormous, especially for microservices, IoT, and mobile.
