Indhold:
? Generelt / tendenser
└ Kan vi gøre noget ved nyheds-overload?
It feels as if we are living in a Superconducting Super Collider of news, with information bombarding us at a head-spinning velocity. The result is a fatigue about the headlines — lately about politics — that has prompted some people to withdraw from the news, or curb their consumption of it.

└ The New York Times laver dagligt podcast
Det må siges at være endnu et bevis på podcast-mediets re-boom, at The New York Times laver en daglig nyheds-podcast – hvilket de også havde under det første podcasting-boom.
The New York Times announced Monday that Michael Barbaro, the host of the Times’ election podcast The Run-Up, will launch a weekday show called “The Daily” this Wednesday.
└ Fem anbefalinger til sociale medier-redaktører
NPRs digitale politiske redaktør deler ud:
Media organizations, repeat after me: Facebook is not made for you. It may adapt somewhat to your presence, but ultimately it’s made for the 1 billion-plus people who are having a conversation on it. If you’re lucky, your story might sometimes be the topic of that conversation; if you’re smart, you’ll be engaged in the discussion, too. Here are five recommendations to help make that happen.

└ Facebook vil belønne længere videoer
Now Facebook will still credit publishers with a view after three seconds. But it is tweaking its News Feed algorithm to emphasize longer videos that are able to retain their audience; the longer they hold them, the more likely Facebook is to promote them

Facebook is looking for ways to get users watching longer videos so it can improve its prospects for selling ads in the middle of the spots. It’s an area where Facebook is at a disadvantage to YouTube.
└ Streaming ↑, TV ↓

We’ll likely see new business models and video streaming products from the big ISPs if Trump removes net neutrality rules, and upstart content providers could struggle to compete.

└ Test af læksikkerhed hos US-medier
That’s it. It was way easier than I thought it would be. Leakers shouldn’t use their work computers and should use public wifi, “like a Starbucks or at a hotel or anywhere where the Internet is open for public use.” And, of course, just using Tor and SecureDrop isn’t a perfect solution for security: If you were doing this from one of your employer’s computers, it might be able to notice that the Tor network was accessed, even if it couldn’t see the contents of whatever you sent. Use as much caution and good sense as you can about distancing yourself from equipment and network locations you might be connected to.

└ Facebook tilbyder (endnu mere) sikkert login
Facebook users can now use a security key to authenticate their identity during the login process. If you use a security key, hackers won’t be able to get into your Facebook account, even if they have your username and password. […]
Security keys solve this problem by cutting out the need to transmit the verification code to the user. Keys like those manufactured by Yubico fit into a USB port and can generate a one-time code at the tap of a finger — and, unlike SMS, these codes can’t be captured without physical access to the security key itself.

└ Bliver CNN spist af kvartalsmonstret?
In 2004, eight years after he’d sold CNN to Time Warner, Ted Turner, the network’s founder, sounded an alarm about the dangers of corporate ownership of news organizations. Mr. Turner wrote that in his day, “we put journalism first, and that’s how we built CNN into something the world wanted to watch.” In his view, “quarterly earnings obsessed” corporate owners would not have the same priorities because “the emphasis instantly shifts from taking risks to taking profits.”

? Organisation / Management
└ Godt samarbejde kræver uenighed
Collaboration is crumpling under the weight of our expectations. What should be a messy back-and-forth process far too often falls victim to our desire to keep things harmonious and efficient. Collaboration’s promise of greater innovation and better risk mitigation can go unfulfilled because of cultural norms that say everyone should be in agreement, be supportive, and smile all the time. The common version of collaboration is desperately in need of a little more conflict.

└ Der er intet magisk ved designtænkning
As design professionals, we shouldn’t let ourselves think there’s any magic in Design Thinking. Our teams, stakeholders, and executives can believe in it, but we shouldn’t. To do so would be to depend on Design Thinking having magic and such magic doesn’t really exist.
